Rachel Travis

PhD Candidate

Rachel is a doctoral candidate with research interests in migration policy and mobility among global cities, as well as the prevention of human rights abuses. She is currently teaching and conducting research related to her dissertation, as well as raising awareness of the impacts of U.S. immigration policies. Rachel has spent several semesters at the Ford Institute conducting research on the prevention of genocide and mass atrocities, and as a member of a working group on environmental migration. She has interned at the United Nations headquarters and the International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) during her time at GSPIA. Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with Distinction from the University of Delaware. Prior to her time at Pitt, she was fortunate to study abroad in France and intern for the U.S. House of Representatives, before working as a Program Associate for the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) Women's Leadership and National Security Policymaking Programs.
